Desiree and William traveled from the United States to Fance and decided to have an elopement surrounded by their close friends and family instead of a traditional wedding at home. They got ready in a private apartment, then had a super romantic elopement ceremony on the Seine river bank and took elopement pictures at Eiffel Tower and Louvre Museum. This is the story of their elopement day in Paris.
Before we got into the details of Desiree and William’s Paris elopement, let me mention that our goal is not only to offer inspiration for your future elopement in Paris, but also to offer practical tips.
One of the important steps when planning an elopement or a destination wedding is to decide on a budget. If your elopement budget allows you to stay in a beautiful Parisian hotel, then it’s great. If not, another option is to rent out an appartment through airbnb or homeaway.
The more beautiful the place in which you are staying, the more your wedding photos will turn out. Keep that in mind when you elope in Paris and are looking for accommodation.
You will naturally give up on many traditions related to a classical wedding, when eloping, you can keep some. For example, exchanging gifts and love letters in the morning of your elopement. It’s a nice gesture of affection from the both of you and will make for beautiful and more interesting elopement photos.
When the couple was ready to get married, we jumped in taxis and ubers (the best way to move around Paris) and headed to the Seine river bank on the opposite side of the Eiffel Tower.
William and Desiree wanted to have their parents and very close friends present at their Paris elopement. The ceremony was officiated by the very kind Pierre from Love Gracefully. You should check them out, as they offer elopement packages in whole Europe.
The Seine river bank is one of the most iconic elopement ceremony spots with an amazing view. As opposed to Trocadéro or Bir Hakeim, here, you are at a lower level, which gives a unique perspective to your elopement photos. Plus, it’s calm and secluded compared to the other busy Eiffel Tower spots.

While we love elopement and wedding ceremonies, what we adore are Paris photoshoots. Once the ceremony and the family portraits were done, we took the newly married couple on an elopement photoshoot adventure at Trocadéro (for the Eiffel Tower view) and the iconic Louvre Museum.
If you wish to have incredibly beautiful elopement pictures at Trocadéro, you have to be there early in the morning. Because there are way less people around and the light is flattering as it lights up the couple from behind. Our couple was lucky, because it just rained before the ceremony, so there were not that many tourist around and we got moments of shade, with the clouds covering the sun. We don’t always get that lucky. So think of a sunrise elopement if you can.
Remember, taking pictures as a couple with a friendly professional photographer is an opportunity to connect as a couple and enjoy the moments after you have been declared husband and wife in Paris.
The last stop on our elopement itinerary was the Louvre Museum. I highly recommend this location for breathtaking elopement photos in Paris. It has the modern architecture of the pyramid as well as elegant old architecture of the ancient palace.
When choosing your Paris elopement package and consequently your photographer, try to look at different entire galleries and see if the couple is feeling comfortable in the photos. When you feel comfortable in front of our lens, this will show in pictures.
Voilà! This was the story of a beautiful summer afternoon elopement on the Seine river bank. Including Eiffel Tower and Louvre Museum photos.
